When to use
- Writing a tapering prescription and its dispense quantity.
Pearls and pitfalls
- Courses under about 3 weeks usually do not need a taper for adrenal reasons.
- Below physiologic doses (about 5–7.5 mg prednisone), taper more slowly after long courses.
- Prednisone tablets: 1, 2.5, 5, 10, 20, 50 mg.
