When to use
  • Quantifying proteinuria or albuminuria.
Pearls and pitfalls
  • Albumin: A1 below 30 mg/g, A2 30–300, A3 above 300.
  • Protein above 3,500 mg/day: nephrotic range. Preeclampsia: protein ratio 0.3 mg/mg or higher.
Why use

Replaces most 24-hour collections.

Ratio (mg/g) = urine protein (mg/dL) ÷ urine creatinine (mg/dL) × 1000 ≈ mg/day
